Author and former second grade teacher Connie Perez visited the students and shared her book. She talked about how she got into painting due to her Parkinsons Disease. She has a second book at the publisher now and asked the students to help her with a third book. If you didn't get a chance to purchase one of her books, she will have them at The Pear Tree and 218 Marketplace.
Since 2009, classrooms nationwide have collected and donated over 730,000 pajamas to at-risk children through Pajama Program, and Scholastic Book Clubs has more than matched that number by donating over one million books.
Pajama Program, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, promotes and supports a comforting bedtime routine for children affected by instability to help them thrive. Pajama Program was founded in 2001 and has delivered more than 6 million good nights for good days. Through its work with its 4,000 community partners, which are community-based organizations across the country that serve children from birth through 18 years, Pajama Program endeavors to create a world where good nights are good days for all children, everywhere.
This year our 4th grade class participated and raised 27 pajamas. Way to go 4th grade!
