2nd Grade: ELAR - Starting long story reading comprehension stories. Learning about how to use quotation marks properly and commas. Learning about writing stories- title, setting, characters, plot, beginning, middle, and end. We continue to do sight words, adding new words to their sight words flipbook. Any extra time during the end of an ELAR lesson is used to meet AR goals or meet Lexia time.
Mathematics - We will be learning about shapes, fractions, halves, fourths, eighths, and counting with equal parts. Practicing our addition and subtraction tables large and small numbers.
Social Studies - Students will be learning about the United States Government. What is government, our government system, and new government vocabulary words.
Handwriting - Students will begin to learn cursive, practicing letters and combinations of letters with the undercurve, undercurve-slant, downcurve, downcurve-slant, overcurve, and overcurve-slant. They will also review print writing as well.
Spelling - Students will continue to be given a new spelling list each Friday. Each Friday students will take their spelling test. Once a week they will be allowed to review their spelling words with a partner.
